BRAC’s young professionals programme was a great opportunity to build my professional foundation for a rewarding career in sustainable development. The most exciting part of working here is the joy of doing something meaningful in a ‘learning while doing’ environment.
The programme places young graduates in important and challenging roles, at times stretching a person’s capacity, and that’s where lies its uniqueness. It came with immense support from BRAC’s senior management and included trainings both home and abroad, which is truly rare in Bangladesh.
The young professionals programme offers a nursing ground for exploring the true potential of every candidate. After the one-year training, which was filled with exposure visits, soft skill courses and challenging field deployments, I can still remember the precious day when I stepped into fast track career to a managerial position and started my career at BRAC Finance and Accounts department. The spirit of the programme inspires me to achieve my goal of becoming a successful professional and an effective leader.
I joined BRAC’s social innovation lab as a young professional back in 2012. The young professionals programme is the best thing that happened to my career. It not only broadened my horizon of knowledge about development but also introduced me to the reality of people living in poverty, their needs and designing solutions to address those needs. The programme shaped me as a leader and opened many doors of opportunities for my future.
The young professionals programme gave me a learning space to develop myself. It is a time full of learning and inspiration, and nurtures values and high potential. It showed me a different angle to viewing social problems and most importantly, it gave me a chance to work towards solving problems and make the world a better place.
I am proud to be associated with the young professional programme. It bridges the gaps between the knowledge and practice in the development field. I found it to be deeply engaging and in the end, it helped me go forward in my career.
The rigorous leadership and management development training helped me evolve as an assured manager in BRAC’s education programme. I got a true sense of community while working in the field and realised BRAC’s scale to creating positive change.
My journey in BRAC from a young professional and then as a researcher has been exceptional. The year-long training helped me understand the realities of my own country that I had been sheltered from for most of my life. It also enabled me to understand my strengths. The experience contributed to securing my position as an Ausaid Scholar. Today I am an acknowledged researcher with published peer-reviewed journals, BRAC monographs and working papers and the owner of a successful startup name Alkanada that promotes local handlooms.
The programme gave me a unique opportunity to gain exposure to professional experience and training in multicultural contexts. Not only did I learn who I am but also who I could be.
The young professionals programme is, without a doubt, a wonderful opportunity to learn, explore and reinvent oneself. Your batchmates will be full of passion and positive energy. No matter what situation you find yourself in as a young professional, take everything as a learning experience and let it guide you towards an enriching career.
